In the natural hair community the most popular gel is of course ecostyler gel.  Recently I ran out of it and so I headed down to Target to pick up another jar. To my surprise the Target I went to did not carry it.  As I was scanning the aisles in search of the gel,  Olive Oil Smooth and Hold Pudding caught my eye. I thought i would give it a try so I purchased it.  It ended up being a good buy.  It not only keeps the hair in place but it moisturizes it.  I mean it actually quenches the hair. The first ingredient listed on the jar is water.  In addition to the air looking and feeling moist, it does not harden the hair in anyway. So that, if your planning on changing you hairstyle you don’t have to worry about washing the product out or having to deal with stiff hair.  Plus, you don’t have to worry about flaking or the gel leaving residue in your hair. Overall, I would say the Olive Oil Smooth and Hold Pudding is a recommendable product especially for those with type 4 hair.  * The above picture shows the result of using the olive oil smooth and hold pudding to smooth my puff style.

My mom recently decided to be daring and go for a very vibrant eye catching red color.  I think this bold color suits her personality. Color is a great way to add some flare to any look.

This pic was taken last month. We were celebrating his birthday outside of Bahama Breeze listening to the live reggae band.  I sleeked my hair into a very high puff and directed the hair to the front of my face.  The curls were accomplished through  small twists done the night before. It’s actually such a easy style to do. I don’t know what I’d do without my head bands;they make styling so simple. As you may be able to tell from my huge smile, I was satisfied with the end product and my future hubby and I had a wonderful time.

This was a really neat puff I did recently.  I washed, twisted, and set my hair with rollers. In the morning, I unraveled my hair from the rollers and sleeked the rest of my hair into a tight puff using Olive Oil Smooth and Hold Pudding. See how defined my curls were after sleeping with the rollers in! It’s just that my hair does not keep the curls in for long. On the third day you couldn’t even tell it was ever so neatly curled. (Sigh)

I wrote earlier about the product, olive oil edge control, but it’s definately worth talking about it again. At first I had only been using it strictly around the edges of my hair while I wore it in protective styles. Now, I apply it much more liberally when my goal is to wear a tight updo or puff as seen above. I absolutely love how it makes the hair look glossy, it makes the hair feel exceptionally soft, it does not flake, and it looks uber sleek. Caution: The product is like a VERY firm pomade. When you apply it to hair, especially 4c hair, you have to brush the product into the hair or else it will just sit on the top of the hair like a white paste. Once the product is brushed into the hair, it will look and feel soft and moisturized and it will NOT feel pasty or greasy.  What I love most about this product is that it gives you hold, sleekness and GLOSS without hardening or flaking.

I twisted my hair and slept with curling rods.  In the morning, I took out the curling rods and twists after I misted with water bottle and sealed with olive oil.  I used a head band and pulled hair up to the front. I played with the curls a little and voila.

Hey Queens,

This is a pic of my hair in a tight puff after taking rope twists out and washing. I think it has grown pretty well in 2 months.

I enjoyed my Christmas vacation and entered the New Year rocking rope twists, which are apparently my favorite protective styling. It’s so versatile. Typically I wear it up in a bun and smooth the edges with Olive Oil Edge Control. OMG I love that product. My friend introduced it to me and I tried it. I bought one right after that. lol. The result is absolutely no flaking and it gives your hair a silky shiny look. Love It. I don’t know about you guys but ecostyler gel tends to flake in my hair which is just not acceptable. Tip: To get extra hold I use A LITTLE ecostyler gel then I use the Olive Oil Edge Control over it. The gel won’t flake because the Olive Oil Edge Control has so much sheen and moisture. :)

I believe this product costs a little over 5 bucks.
